Chef's Profile
Mudpot's chef came from humble beginnings. Raised in a middle-class family in a village in Tamil Nadu, he spent a good deal of time in his mother's kitchen, where she constantly cooked up new savory dishes from her homeland in Southern India. He started by helping her with chores around the kitchen and soon developed a love for the different techniques used to make a host of traditional South Indian dishes.
He graduated from a culinary institute in 2003 with special honors in South Indian cuisine. He worked as a cook in various high-profile restaurants and hotels in the Chennai area, excelling in the art of cooking biryanis, curries, and several vegan dishes.
The skills he gained in India allowed him to move to Canada, where he worked not only in South Indian restaurants but also in renowned eateries. He creates his own recipes and has a strong influence on the menu. At Mudpot restaurant, he commands a kitchen brigade with a combined cooking experience of more than 50 years. In his spare time, he enjoys an active life with his young family.
